Should I get a dedicated device for my ELD service?

Having a dedicated device can be beneficial. The FMCSA requires that ELDs be mounted and visible at all times while driving- having a dedicated device will ensure that you are keeping it in the foreground as much as possible while in motion. Also, apps that go to the background for too long could be put to "sleep" or forced closed by the phone’s operating system causing it to not record events correctly.
